Two tools for different jobs
We know both sides. STYLEPOT has been developing software for fashion brands for over 15 years, and our photo studio in Munich, 247 Studio at Frankfurter Ring, still produces real shoots today: packshot, ghost mannequin, model and still life. We built STYLEPOT STUDIO because we saw every day how much time and money product images cost and how often shops work with inconsistent images.
That is why we see no point in playing one against the other. A photographer with a model, lighting and a location creates images that shape a brand. An AI studio makes sure every single item gets a clean, consistent image, including the 400th item and the third restock.
AI product photos vs. photoshoot side by side
| Traditional photoshoot | AI product photos with STYLEPOT STUDIO | |
|---|---|---|
| Lead time | Planning, booking, date | Straight after upload |
| People involved | Model, photographer, styling, retouching | You with your phone |
| Starting point | Samples on site in the studio | 2-3 phone photos per item |
| Time per item | Shoot plus retouching | A few minutes |
| Costs | Day rates, studio and retouching | From €0.90 excl. VAT per image |
| Restocks | New date required | Any time in the same look |
| Consistency | Depends on the day, team and light | Same model, set and light |
| Visual language | Free: location, story, real people | Defined studio and editorial sets |
| Strength | Campaign, hero image, brand image | Pre-order, range, ongoing product images |
When AI product photos are the better choice
Wherever many items need a consistent image in a short time. Typical cases from the daily work of a fashion brand:
- B2B pre-orders and line sheets, when only samples exist and the goods have not been produced yet
- Sample collections that go to the field sales team after a few days
- Large ranges that have to go online quickly at the change of season
- Restocks and colour variants that should match the rest of the collection
- Marketplaces with fixed rules on background and format
An example: the autumn collection arrives as samples, the order period starts in two weeks and the next free shoot date is after that. With the AI Studio you photograph each sample as it arrives, and sales has images in the order tool before the first retailer places an order.
When a real shoot can be the better choice
When an image has to carry the brand and not just show an item. For this we continue to produce real campaign and product images in our Munich studio.
- The B2C campaign of a season with location, story and emotion
- The hero image for the home page and ads
- Images with real people from your brand, such as the founder or the team
- Items with highly reflective materials or very small details where everything has to be exact
- Still life and staged shots with accessories
Many brands combine both
That way the brand gets its face from the real shoot, and every item still gets a complete image set.
- One real campaign shoot per season for hero image, banners and ads
- All product images of the collection in the AI Studio, with a fixed model and set
- Mood images per item in an editorial set that matches the feel of the campaign
- Restocks and colours added later in the same look
Honest about the limits
AI product photos show an AI model, not a real person. You should check every image before it goes online and regenerate individual images if needed. We recommend labelling AI images in your shop. The EU AI Act sets out transparency obligations for this. On the other hand, a shoot needs planning and budget, and for hundreds of items per season that is rarely realistic.
